United
against
Scientology abuse
We are campaigning for an end to
abuse in scientology.
In October 2025, we met outside Saint Hill to send Scientology a clear message: the abuse must stop.

October 2025 protest
We Come Back
A lot can happen in a year.
Since last time we gathered at the gates of Saint Hill, Scientology tried to ban protesting outside their headquarters.
It failed and despite their best efforts to stop us, we returned on the weekend of October 31st – 2nd November 2025 to send a clear message: the abuse has to stop.
We are not protesting the doctrine or religious beliefs; and we are not there to stop people attending the IAS event.
But we have a zero tolerance for abuse and…
We come back.

ILLEGAL OBSTRUCTIONS
Scientology: bad faith actors
In order to minimise the space available for protestors to congregate near their UK headquarters, the Church of Scientology placed a number of illegal obstructions along Saint Hill Road. This included planters, which blocked the public right of way and 105 holly bushes on the opposite side of the road, leading to pedestrians and dog-walkers to navigate dangerous obstructions in a dark and narrow country lane.
Scientology failed to provide adequate lighting, and poor traffic management meant there were a number of near-misses involving coaches and HGVs leaving the property.
West Sussex Highways ordered the obstructions to be removed and their instructions were ignored, leading to the Council implementing an emergency Temporary Traffic Regulation Order which reduced the speed limit to 40mph for the duration of the event.
Illegal construction work
The tent has been erected (illegally)
Despite being issued a Planning Contravention Notice in 2024 and being ordered by the Council to apply for permission before building the giant IAS event marquee this year, Scientology went ahead regardless.
This means a giant 45,000 square foot, illegal tent was erected to act as a venue for the 2025 IAS event. Mid-Sussex District Council consider the structure “unlawful” and are currently considering taking enforcement action.

major redevelopment works
Saint hill planning application
Scientology have, however, submitted a planning application (DM/25/2223) for a major redevelopment of their Saint Hill compound. The proposals include a new entrance, car park and toilet facilities but fail to request permission for the tent itself.
In their application, Scientology’s architects highlight the damage their event and annual tent construction causes to their property, which is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The application has now closed to public consultation and will be reviewed by Mid-Sussex District Council in due course.
